Teacher of the Year

Special Education Teacher of the Year 2015-2016

Mr. Rodney Thomas was recognized as Camden County Schools Special Education Teacher of the Year in February at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.  Mr. Thomas works in the field of special education at St. Marys Middle School.  During his years with us, he has joined several models with the special education department at his school.  His character and enthusiasm are evident in both the self-contained and inclusion model classroom settings.

Mr. Thomas’ enthusiasm and love for teaching is evident from speaking with his students.  One of his students said, “When I don’t understand something he always breaks it down to me.  When I am having a bad day he cheers me up with laughter.  He is fair.  The other day he said a good day is when you are able to wake up alive.  He has always inspired me in lots of ways.”  Administrators, parents, students, and teachers at St. Marys Middle School value Mr. Thomas’ positive and professional demeanor.  It was for these reasons along with many more, that Mr. Thomas was named our Special Education Teacher of the Year 2016.
