We are pleased to offer a before and after-school care program in each of our elementary schools. This program, outlined in the Extended Day Program Parent Handbook , is provided as an extension of the school day for children enrolled in our elementary schools and is only available on regular school days. Hours of operation are from 6:30 am – 8:30 am and from 3:30 pm to 6:00 pm each day that school is in session.
The program is recreational in nature, offering many wholesome, supervised in-door and out-door, age-appropriate activities at each school. For the 2017-2018 school year, Extended Day is offering STEM activities in the afternoon session with emphasis on discovery, inquiry, observation and fun physical science activities, and many more activities based on children's interest in the world we live in. Art experiences are provided daily.
To enroll a child in the Extended Day Program, parents must fill out an enrollment packet for each child and return it to the Extended Day Program site manager at the child's school along with an annual registration fee of $45 per child or $80 per family plus payment of the first week's fee.
See our Parent Brochure or Parent Handbook on page 2 for fee options. Fees are not pro-rated on weeks containing a school holiday or teacher workday. Parents who need financial assistance for daycare should apply on line at https://compass.ga.gov before bringing children to the Extended Day Program. All fees are due on the first day of attendance each week. A late payment fee of $5.00 per day will be assessed if payment has not reached Extended Day by 3:00 pm on the second day of the week.
Parents of students with special needs should contact the Extended Day Program office (912) 729-8301 or e-mail Lou Durbin, Extended Day Program Coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule a conference to discuss any needs that require special accommodations at least 24 hours before the child's first date of attendance.
All Extended Day staff members engage in ongoing professional staff development which includes yearly updates in First Aid and CPR. The overall program serves an average of 500+ students per day at nine locations.
